This seal was used in 暎嬪房 (yeongbinbang), the House of the Royal Noble Consort Yeongbin. Yeongbinbang was one of Gungbang (宮房). Gungbang may refer to different places depending on each context in which it is used: linear family members of the king, private residences of the prince and princess who moved out of the palace, or a kind of office of royal women for managing their properties. Of the three, Yeongbinbang corresponded to the third case. The place was in charge of managing household essentials for the Royal Noble Consort of Yeongbin (1696-1764), one of the royal concubines of King Yeongjo (r. 1724-1776) and the mother of Crown Prince Sado (1735-1762). The handle of the seal is in the shape of a lion looking straight ahead with a bell pendant around its neck and its forelegs extended. The seal is inscribed with暎嬪房 (Yeongbinbang).
